I am going to try your steps that you suggest. Again, as I recall, now when I wanted to use telescope control (which I never did afterwards) I would then have to open the Configuration Window, select 'Telescope Control', then 'Configure', then my scope (EXOS2-GT) and finally 'Start'. I think if you select 'Start/Connect at Startup' it will enable telescope control every time you open Stellarium (I didn't check it). Stellarium setup serial#I think at this point I had to close Stellarium and reopen so that you could select 'Configure'? Once you're able to open 'Configure' you 'Add', give it a name (mine is EXOS2-GT' and the correct paramenter for your own setup (mine is 'Stellarium, direct through serial port'. Stellarium setup software#My first question is, what other software besides Stellarium do I need, if any?Īlso, I opened up Stellarium without the telescope connected hoping to maybe get familiar with the setup before actually connecting the telescope, but this function does not seem to be available - at least not the way the Youtube videos display it. After watching a couple of Youtube videos my brain hurts, so I thought I would reach out and see if I can get some help here. I have an EXOS2GT (late 2018 model not the PMC-8) and have purchased the adapter cable to connect between the hand controller and the laptop but I have not tried to connect it yet. I want to start controlling my telescope using my laptop and Stellarium because I find using the hand controller cumbersome for selecting objects. ![]() To remove the software, either use your system package manager or run command: sudo apt-get remove -autoremove stellariumĪnd remove the PPA via “Software & Updates” utility under Other Software tab.I have been visually observing and doing limited astrophotography for three years but I am starting from scratch in terms of knowledge and the software necessary to connect my computer to Setllarium to actually control it, so please help if you can.
